How does hypnotherapy work?

You know how you drive home, every day you take the same road, and you don’t think about it; and all of a sudden you’re in your garage. How did you get there? This kind of autonomous behavior is called unconscious decision-making. You enter a kind of trance, where you don’t consciously focus on your task, you subconscious mind does all the necessary work for you. And that’s how hypnosis, or “trans-induction,” works.

Hypnosis is really safe. It’s really easy. And most people are capable of it. if you allow your body to fall in a trance, you allow yourself to be more susceptible to suggestions and support. If you want to change a thought or behavior pattern, you can change how you’re framing your mind around it. So you can be in that pattern and talk about it with me while being inducted into a trance, or just a more relaxed state, to shift the pattern unconsciously as well as consciously.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

Hypnotherapy is popular with issues like “I want to stop smoking,” or, “I’m having sleep issues.” You may want to reduce symptoms of chronic pain. Or you want to lessen the symptoms of fear or anxiety when you’re going on a date. Hypnotherapy is also a good tool for issues where you can’t get your body to do what you mind tells it to. For example, golfers sometimes have a problem called “the yips.” The yips in golf is like you just can’t putt straight for some reason, or in baseball, the yips is when you just can’t throw to first base; your mind just won’t let you. Hypnotherapy can get you there.
